Poverty in Africa

The above image shows the number of poeople in poverty in Africa. There are above 165 people in the majority of areas of the contitinent that are living in poverty and this just shows the severity of the issue in Africa, which is stereotypically the most impoverished continent in the world.

  1. I like the visuals! I didnt know that many people in Africa lived in poverty. I'm glad your bringing light to this problem, it is certainly something everyone should know about.

  2. Steph, I too like the visuals, they tell a story, which is always a powerful way of raising awareness. However, I'm not particularly sure that I understand this particular graphic. I think a little more explanation would of been helpful, at least for me.

Work a little more on your design and key links. You should also organize your posts by label (i.e., statistics, graphics, regions, organizations, governments, key figures - you decide).

From now on, you should be posting at least twice a week.

Overtime move more towards an area of focus, whether it is regional, or policy driven. Remember, Canada is a significant player in this area. It might be a good place to begin to do some digging.

  3. I agree this graphic does do a great job in telling a story of where poverty lies in Africa. This is a serious problem that should be addressed and in my opinion should get a lot more attention from wealthier nations around the world.

  4. As noted in my previous post, your challenge is going to be to begin to focus regionally - and become country-specific when trending poverty. Doing so will allow to discuss the way in which politics and government structures, both nationally, as well as internationally, impact poverty.
